A Team Committed to Helping People Recover from Addiction

Our staff are committed to our mission of providing behavioral health and substance use recovery services, and work on a daily basis to reach those in need with individualized, evidence-based treatment. They are dedicated to helping each of our clients achieve positive change in their lives.

Years of experience in a variety of behavioral healthcare settings, in addition to exposure to a wide range of demographics, give our staff a unique expertise that allows them to provide the most effective care possible. Every member of our team is passionate about the work that we do, and we work closely with our clients and their families to help them this obstacle.

OUR TEAM

  • Bridget Cain, LCSW-A, LCAS, CSI

    Vice President of Operations

    Bridget joined October Road in 2017 after working for several years in medication-assisted treatment and opioid treatment programs. She initially coordinated October Road’s medication-assisted treatment program until transitioning to Program Director of MAT and OTP services.  Prior to being named Vice President of Operations, Bridget served as Executive Director of October Road, Asheville, where she directed daily operations for all services and programs. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist and Clinical Supervisor Intern.  Bridget holds a Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University.

  • Jenn Bandzwolek, LCAS, LCSW, CSI

    Regional Clinical Director

    Jenn began at October Road in 2016 as a substance use specialist on an Assertive Community Treatment Team. With appreciation for the flexibility and creativity involved in working on ACTT, she worked as a team lead before becoming the Clinical Director, enthusiastically taking on the opportunity to work with all three of October Road’s flourishing ACT Teams. Jenn is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill’s Master of Social Work program. She also holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from North Carolina State University and a bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland.

  • Tim Morgan, MPA

    Regional Director of Performance Improvement

    Tim has fifteen years of experience working for public, private and nonprofit agencies. His motivation for quality improvement and compliance comes from seeing the positive results that such work brings to October Road and the people receiving its services. Tim holds a BA in politics and government from Ohio Wesleyan and a Master of Public Administration from Bellevue University.

  • Brady Schroer, DO

    Medical Director

    Dr. Brady Schroer holds a BS in biopsychology with an emphasis in chemistry. He attended medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. After medical school, he completed his general psychiatry residency at an internationally known psychiatric clinic. Dr. Schroer later worked in a large hospital setting for five years as a psychiatric hospitalist taking care of geriatric patients, caring for patients with psychiatric issues on the medical floors and ICU (intensive care unit), detoxifying clients from alcohol and benzodiazepines, ECT treatment for depression, and served as Medical Director and Chief of Psychiatry. Dr. Schroer moved to Western North Carolina in 2007 to become the Medical Director of the inpatient psychiatric unit and the detoxification unit at one of the area’s top hospitals and served for seven years in that capacity. Most recently, he has been treating adolescents and adults in sober living environments, residential treatment centers, community behavioral health and outpatient settings.

  • Jessica Shepherd, BS, CADC-I

    Community Liaison

    Jessica was born and raised in Asheville, NC with an incredible and supportive family who still resides locally. After years of unmanageability due to substance use, she found herself at October Road, where she started her recovery journey. She began her career with those with substance use struggles as a peer support for five years, leading to obtaining a CADC-I and Bachelor of Science in Correctional Program Support Services from University of Phoenix. After three years of counseling, she joined the October Road Treatment Center Team as a counselor. She has always been passionate about helping to connect those struggling with resources to obtain success. This has led to her role as the Community Liaison. She is so proud to be a part of this remarkable team.

  • Gabriell Harkey, CADC 

    Executive Director, Asheville Methadone Clinic

    Gabby was born and raised in a small town in Gaston county, North Carolina. She has been working in the substance use field for the past seven years and began working at October Road Treatment Center in 2022 as a counselor.  Gabby is a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor and has a passion working with the substance use population.

  • Colleen Barcus, LCSW, LCAS

    Executive Director, Asheville

    Colleen joined October Road in April 2023 after working for several years in the behavioral health crisis services continuum.  Most notably, she coordinated Buncombe County’s first Behavioral Health Urgent Care in 2016.  She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Wright State University and a master’s degree in social work from The University of Akron.
